Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) is the Planning and Development Authority for the Pune Metro Region with an outlook towards channelizing growth in a strategic and orderly manner. It was notified in the year 2015 and has a jurisdictional area of 7,256.46 km2 (2,801.73 sq mi) with a population of 72.76 Lakhs (approximately), making it the largest urban unit in Maharashtra.[1][2][3][4]

PMRDA covers entire Talukas of Pune city, Maval, Mulshi, Haveli and parts of Bhor, Daund, Shirur, Khed, Purandar and Velhe. PMRDA has been set up as a legally empowered and a self-financing corporate body by the Urban Development Department of the Government of Maharashtra.[5]
