John Butler of Kilcash (Irish: Seán de Buitléir Chill Chaise) (died 10 May 1570) was the third son of James Butler, 9th Earl of Ormond and Lady Joan Fitzgerald.
Marriage and issue
He was married to Lady Katherine MacCarthy, the daughter of Cormac na Haoine MacCarthy Reagh, 10th Prince of Carbery.[1] Their children were:
- Walter Butler, 11th Earl of Ormond (d. 1632), known as "Walter of the Beads".
- James Butler.
- Eleanor Butler, who married Thomas Prendergast. Their son James Prendergast was killed in 1627 by Edmond Butler, 3rd/13th Baron Dunboyne in a dispute over the inheritance of a barony. Dunboyne stood trial for manslaughter but was acquitted.
- Katherine Butler, who married firstly Maolmhordha O'Reilly and secondly Henry MacShane O'Neill.
