Cassine glauca, known as නෙරලු (neralu) in Sinhala, is a species of large tree in the staff vine family, Celastraceae, it’s natural range extends through the Indo-Malayan region in subtropical mixed deciduous and evergreen forests.

Leaves

opposite, oblong, acute base, acute apex, margin shallowly serrate to entire.

Trunk

dichotomously branched; b- warted, thick, brownish gray; Wood - heavy, hard, reddish brown.

Flowers

pale yellowish green; I- numerous, axillary, spreading, paniculate cymes.

Fruits

ovoid, apiculate, glabrous drupe.

Ecology

coastal scrub, monsoon forest.

Uses

leaf, roots- medicinal; Wood -turnery, utensils, cart axils.
