The 2016 Cavan Senior Hurling Championship was the 53rd staging of the competition since its establishment by the Cavan County Board in 1908. The competition is a Gaelic Athletic Association competition which is held between the top hurling clubs in County Cavan.
Cootehill Celtic were the defending champions.[1] The final was held in Breffni Park on 25 September 2016,[2] and ended with Mullahoran St Joseph's beating Cootehill Celtic by 2–7 to 2–6.[3][4] However, Cootehill were later awarded the title (their 5th title) as Mullahoran were adjudged to have fielded an ineligible player.[citation needed]
