beZ bileta is a Belarusian alternative music band.[5][6][7]

History

The group was organized by Vitaly Artist in 1998.[8] Having started with Folk songs in Belarusian, by the year 2004 the Minsk band passed on to complicated electronic versions of Indie rock.[8] In 2005 they started towards some simplification of sound.[8] The three periods of creative evolution of beZ bileta are reflected in their albums “Up into the sky” (2001), “Drawn” (2004) and the maxi-single «Amendment 22» (2006).

BeZ bileta were twice given the Belarusian Music Award “The Rock Coronation”: in 2000 as “Discovery of the Year” and in 2001 for “Song of the Year” for their hit “My Motherland Belarus”.[9][10][11] The group has got experience of performing on the festival stages of Belarus (“Slavyansky Bazar”), Poland "Basóvišča", “Fiesta Borealis” (together with Hair Peace Salon and Jitters[12][13][14][15]), Italy (“Spirit of Woodstock”), Germany (“Good-By”).

BeZ bileta is known for the visual presentation of its songs in Belarus and abroad. The band’s music videos are mostly made by music video director Tanya Kushner. The “video storage” of the group contains both animated videos (“Stop Business”, “Went Further”) and art videos (“Drawn”, “What's above”) as well as a narrative video “Two Boats”. The animated music video “Went Further” (directed by Tanya Kushner, animated by Denis Volkov) took part in animation festivals in the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Italy, Great Britain and Australia. The music video “A Place for You” came off in spring 2006. The video is made up from the photos of the group members, their friends and common people who can’t remain indifferent to beZ bileta.

The band’s leader Vitaly Artist is known as the author of the soundtrack for the 2006 Russian film, “Hunting the Piranha”. Vitaly also composes music for soap-operas (“Men don’t cry”), a romantic thriller "A Joke" (2007), theatrical performance (“Thereaflter” staged by the Minsk Theatre “Inzhest”), teleprojects (the new season of the popular TV programme series “Sasha and Sirozha”), cartoons and promos.[16] In autumn 2006 Artist finished working on the sound-track for the Russian soap opera “Supermarket” coming out at the beginning of 2007.[17]

At the "Rock Coronation Awards" 2009 ceremony in May 2010 the band got the main prize, the “Rock Crown”, as well as was awarded in the categories "Album of the Year" and "Video of the Year".[18][19]

At the National Music Awards 2012 presented by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus and the Capital TV, the band was honored in the category of “Best Live Show.”[20]

Deadhead’s Day

BeZ bileta provides entertainment at the annual celebration of “Deadhead’s Day”.[21] The entertainment prepared by Vitaly Artist and his band includes free disk-for-citation exchange, a mini on-the-phone concert from the leader of the group for those who managed to get through,[22] the band’s songs’ remix contest for musicians from different countries and a cover versions competition.[23] The winner of the “Deadhead’s Day” show had a chance to perform together with beZ bileta during their concert on November 10 in the Minsk nightclub “Reactor”.[24]

In 2007, the Deadhead’s Day was celebrated at the concert hall «Minsk», while Chiefs Band, Hair Peace Salon, Плато and Атморави came to congratulate BeZ bileta and played its covers.[25]

Appraisal

In 2008, Tat’yana Zamirovskaya gave such an assessment of the band’s work in her column over at naviny.by, “In 1999, the appearance of beZ bileta was a real shock – I still love them, even if there are not so many things that were so attracted in them at that time left.”[26]
