The Pavilion

The Pavilion is the second largest shopping centre located in Westville near Durban and one of the largest in South Africa. The mall has gone through many phases of extensions.

Due to the strategic location, the Pavilion has seen considerable foot count growth. The Pavilion is an iconic family-focused mall that is conveniently located in the warm, welcoming coastal city of Durban. The diverse cultural buy in to The Pavilion also makes it one of the more accessible and inviting shopping centres. The Pavilion's distinctive domes have become familiar glittering beacons, punctuating the skyline from afar and welcoming shoppers from throughout the area. Influenced by European architectural styles, The Pavilion has distinguished itself as a recognisable landmark since its opening in October 1993. It is one of the most established first-generation shopping centres within the Province.

History

The mall was developed in the early 90s and opened in October 1993 by Murray and Roberts, (now Concor), to initially provide 75,000 square metres of shopping space. Subsequently, the centre has gone through six phases of expansion, the most recent of which was completed in 2014, bringing the floor space to just under 135,000 square metres. An additional 35 000 square metre expansion is planned for 2018.
