Vicki Young is a British journalist who has been the Chief Political Correspondent of BBC News since 2014, taking up the post made free by Norman Smith's appointment as Assistant Political Editor. She has led BBC coverage into more than four general elections and occasionally serves as a relief presenter on the BBC News channel.

Young was born in Camborne, Cornwall[citation needed] and "graduated" from Truro High School for Girls in 1988. During her senior years, she served as Head Girl at the school.[citation needed] She then attended New Hall, Cambridge.[1]

Career

Young's career at the BBC began when she joined the One O'Clock News as a political correspondent. She was a correspondent for BBC Breakfast from 2008 to 2011. In 2014, Young was promoted to the role of Chief Political Correspondent. She was given the position in response to Norman Smith's promotion to Assistant Political Editor. In 2014, she served as a sit-in reporter for Daily Politics and has also reported for BBC Radio 4 and BBC Radio 5 Live.[citation needed]
