The 2020 UMass Minutemen football team represented the University of Massachusetts Amherst in the 2020 NCAA Division I FBS football season until the cancellation of the 2020 season on August 11, 2020. The Minutemen would had played their home games at Warren McGuirk Alumni Stadium and competed as a independent. They would have been coached by second-year head coach Walt Bell.

Cancellation
On August 11, 2020, the University of Massachusetts announced that its fall sports would be cancelled due to safety concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Athletic director Ryan Bamford stated that the university "[remains] hopeful and fully [intends] to conduct a competitive schedule for our fall sports in the 2021 spring semester.”[3]
