WKHJ-FM is an Adult Contemporary formatted broadcast radio station licensed to Mountain Lake Park, Maryland, serving Garrett County, Maryland, Preston, Mineral, and Grant Counties in West Virginia. WKHJ-FM is owned and operated by Broadcast Communications II, Inc. Studios are on 407 Lothian Street in Loch Lynn Heights, near Oakland, and is operated from the same facility as sister stations WKTQ, WKTZ-FM and WMSG

The station was granted its construction permit from the Federal Communications Commission on October 18, 1988, to build a station that would broadcast on 98.9 MHz; it was assigned the call letters WKHJ on November 23, 1989. The station signed on the air on July 9, 1990. When it was located on 98.9 MHz, the station was known as "99-KHJ". WKHJ changed frequency to 104.5 in April 1998 after a ruling by the FCC that it had to accommodate a frequency move and power increase by WDNE-FM, Elkins, West Virginia. Eventually, WPQR (now WPKL), Uniontown, Pennsylvania, was also able to upgrade in power due to the move.
The initial stockholders of Southern Highlands, Incorporated, the first owners of the station included Roger Ruff, who also served as chief operator, and Albert and Jeanne Devine. Albert Devine died in November 2004, while Roger Ruff died suddenly in May 2005.

104.5 KHJ on-air personalities include Operations Manager Ben Lawrence (aka "Benji Law"), News Director Jim Shaffer, Bob Mohr, Ben Slazak, Paul Macy, and Ted Saint James.
Station sold
In July 2009, WKHJ and sisters WMSG and WWHC were sold for $830,000 to Radiowerks Broadcasting.[1]
In May 2011, WKHJ and its sister stations were ordered into receivership by the Garrett County, Maryland Circuit Court. John Culp was appointed as receiver. The Federal Communications Commission approved the transfer of the license on May 19, 2011. The three stations were transferred to Broadcast Communications II, Inc. effective July 1, 2013 at a purchase price of $775,000.
