Rigby's Water World
Rigby's Water World[1] is a privately owned waterpark located in the southern part of Warner Robins, Georgia in Houston County and covers 23 acres, with 90 acres available for expansion[2]. It first opened in 2018 and has 10 water slides[3].
This waterpark was commonly referenced in the popular American TV show 'Regular Show' which sparked its growth and popularity.[4]
Development
During its planning, the park claimed that it would be "the largest waterpark in the world".[5] The facility was said to be a maze of 16 waterslides and walkways with more than 40 waterplay implements.[6] Plans also included an adult pool with a three-tier waterfall, a palm tree, three children's pools, two hotels, a convention center that can hold 1,250 people, a 250-seat restaurant and a 6,000-person amphitheater.[7] However, as of 2020, amphitheater has not been completed.
The development was anticipated to be one of the largest water parks in the state of Georgia. The lazy river, one of the leading attractions, is said to be 1,600 feet (490 m) long, 15 feet (4.6 m) wide, and holds almost 1,000,000 US gallons (3,800 m3) of water.[8]
Opening
Rigby's Water World was opened on July 7, 2018 and featured a 750-gallon water bucket, seventeen slides, and water gadgets for kids.[9][10][11] The water park was announced to be a $15 million development project. It is owned by Steve Rigby[3].
Notable Events
In August 2018, the park was forced to shut down temporarily due to reports of a child testing positive for cryptosporidium, a parasite which can cause diarrhea. The health department was notified and a state health agency begun the investigation.[12][13] A few days later, the park owner claimed that the park was safe and free of waterborne disease.[14][15]
The park hosted a rock and country music festival "Route 96 Music Festival" in September 2019,[16] and was the end point for the 62nd Annual Warner Robins Christmas Parade in December 2019.[17]
