Sunwapta

Sunwapta is a Nakoda (Stoney) word meaning "turbulent river" or "radiating waves" (as in ripples, small waves in a circular shape created after dropping an object in water).

Additionally, in 1934, Dr. George Richard Agar Rice included the word in his new Edmonton, Alberta based radio station company: Sunwapta Broadcasting.
