It is similar to the spotted scat, but is more silvery and has bold bars and spots. It is also smaller, only reaching up to 28 cm in length. They inhabit brackish mangrove estuaries and coastal freshwater throughout Indonesia, northern Australia and Papua New Guinea.[2]
