Toufiq M. Seraj (1956 – June 20, 2019)[1] was a Bangladeshi businessman who was the founder and managing director of Sheltech and its associated companies. He was the first president of Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB) for three consecutive terms (2000–2006). Seraj was also a president of Bangladesh Institute of Planners and Bangladesh Tennis Federation.[2][3]

Early life and education

Seraj was born on 1956. He completing graduation and post-graduation from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). Later he earned his PhD in civic design from the University of Liverpool. He held academic positions at BUET.[4]

Personal life

Seraj was married to Zeba Islam Seraj, a professor it the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Dhaka. They had two daughters. He died on 21 June 2019, aged 63, whilst using an airplane toilet en route to Spain. He was found unconscious with his head inside the toilet bowl. He was given emergency treatment and was later pronounced dead at Doha Airport.
