"Funny Little Frog" was the first single lifted from Belle & Sebastian's The Life Pursuit. The track was released in January 2006 on Rough Trade Records, and is produced by Tony Hoffer. The single became the band's highest-charting single in the UK so far, reaching number 13. In the band's native Scotland, the song made it to number three on the Scottish Singles Chart. The artwork for the single features Julie Coyle and Marisa Privitera.

A different version of the song "Funny Little Frog" appears in Stuart Murdoch's project "God Help the Girl".[citation needed]
