Three Thousand Years of Longing is an upcoming epic fantasy romance film written and directed by George Miller.

Premise

A lonely and bitter British woman discovers an ancient bottle while on a trip to Istanbul and unleashes a Djinn who offers her three wishes. Filled with apathy, she is unable to come up with one until his stories spark in her a desire to be loved.[1]

Cast

Production

It was announced in October 2018 that George Miller had set his next directorial effort, which was described as being “epic in scope”, and was expected to begin filming in 2019.[2] Idris Elba and Tilda Swinton were announced as being cast the same month.[3]

In a July 2019 interview, Miller stated that pre-production would begin on the film in late 2019, with filming beginning on March 2, 2020 between Australia, Turkey and the United Kingdom.[4][5][6] However it was delayed as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.[7] It began filming in November 2020 in Australia.[8]

Release

In May 2020, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer acquired the distribution rights for the film.[9]
