Ujjwal Maulik[1] is an Indian computer scientist and a professor. He is the former chair of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Jadavpur University, Kolkata, West Bengal, India. He also held the position of the principal-in-charge and the head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Kalyani Government Engineering College.

Maulik completed his Ph.D. in computer science and engineering at Jadavpur University, Kolkata, West Bengal, India in 1997. He received an M.Tech. in computer science and engineering from Jadavpur University in 1992 and a B.Tech. in computer science and technology from Calcutta University, Rajabazar Science College in 1989. He also completed a B.Sc. in physics from Calcutta University in 1986.[citation needed][2]

Maulik did post-doctoral research at the University of New South Wales in 1999 and the University of Texas, Arlington, 2001. As an Alexander von Humboldt Experienced Researcher, he has worked at the Germany Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) in 2010, 2011, and 2012. He was a senior associate of the International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) from 2012 to 2018.
Maulik was the recipient of the Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship in 2010, 2011, and 2012; and was a senior associate of the International Centre for Theoretical Physics from 2012 to 2018. He is the Fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE), the International Association for Pattern Recognition (IAPR), and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). His research interests include data science, machine learning, bioinformatics, and the Internet of things.
