The Halfway House

Polbathic (Cornish: Polbarthek)[1] is a small village situated on the A374 Trerulefoot to Torpoint road, within the parish of St Germans, in south-east Cornwall, England, UK. The village is situated on the edge of a tidal creek, known as Polbathick Lake, which is a branch of the River Tiddy and River Lynher river system.[2] Polbathick Lake is within the Lynher Estuary SSSI.[3][4]

Polbathic is home to the Halfway Public House, drinkers at the pub tried to buy it but were not successful.[5] The pub was bought at auction for £110,000[6] by the owners of the Pickwick inn St Issey,[7] the pub was run by landlord Kevin Rix, when he left the owners daughter took over and ran it for 4 years.[8] In 2019 the freehold of the pub was put up for sale for £350,000 or a lease with £25000 rent pa, eventually the lease was sold at a discount, for £1 on the 12 November 2019.[9] The pub is now run by Lloyd Halliday who previously managed pubs in Essex and Suffolk.[10]
