Ariful Haque Choudhury (Sylheti: ꠀꠞꠚꠥꠟ ꠢꠇ ꠌꠧꠗꠥꠞꠤ) is a Bangladeshi politician and the current mayor of Sylhet. Choudhury is also an executive member of Bangladesh Nationalist Party. In 2003, he was elected as commissioner of Sylhet City Corporation.[1]

Biography

Ariful Huq was born on November 23, 1959 in Kumarpara in Sylhet. His father Mohammad Shafiqul Haque Chowdhury and mother Amina Khatun.

Ariful Haque started his political career as a member of Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Chatra Dal, the student wing of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party.

He became the mayor of Sylhet city by defeating Badar Uddin Ahmed Kamran in June 2013. Arif won the election by more than 35,000 votes.[2]
