AGV SpA. (Amisano Gino Valenza) is an Italian motorcycle helmet firm which started out in 1947 making leather seats and motorcycle saddles. A year later, in 1948, it started making motorcycle helmets.
AGV competes with high-end helmet brands such as Arai and Shoei of Japan, Shark of France, Schuberth of Germany and fellow Italians makers Suomy, Nolan, X-Lite, Givi et.al.
Although there are numerous notable racing motorcyclists who have worn AGV helmets, the brand is most notably associated with motorcycle World Champions Valentino Rossi and Giacomo Agostini, both of whom used them throughout their entire career. The brand can also count past Formula One world champions such as Niki Lauda, Emerson Fittipaldi and Nelson Piquet as wearers.[1]
In 2007, Dainese bought AGV from Belgian firm IMAG Group, bringing the company back into Italian ownership.
Barry Sheene also wore an AGV but switched to Arai, as did Agostini
