Acosta is one of the 13 municipalities of the state of Monagas, Venezuela. The municipality's capital is San Antonio de Capayacuar.

History

The first aborigines to make a presence in this region were the Chaima, belonging to the capaya tribe.

Geography

It presents a tropical climate of humid forest with temperatures between 15 and 27ºC and an average annual precipitation of 975 mm. The main water courses are the Guarapiche River and the Colorado River.

Economy

It is fundamentally agricultural. Among the main items of production are coffee, citrus fruits and vegetables.
