Afonso Miguel Castro Vilhena Taira (born 17 June 1992) is a Portuguese footballer who plays for G.D. Estoril Praia as a defensive midfielder.

Club career

Born in Cascais, Lisbon, Taira joined Sporting Clube de Portugal's youth system in 2006 (aged 14), from neighbouring G.D. Estoril Praia. He made his professional debuts in 2011 with Córdoba CF in the Spanish second division, signing a three-year contract[1] but making only three competitive appearances during his first season in Andalusia.

For the 2012–13 campaign, Taira returned to his country after being loaned to Atlético Clube de Portugal in the second level.[2]

Personal life

Taira's father, José, was also a footballer and a midfielder. He appeared in more than 100 games in the Primeira Liga, and also competed for six years in Spain, representing mainly UD Salamanca.
