Ahiru no Sora (あひるの空) is a basketball manga written by Hinata Takeshi. It started serialization in Weekly Shōnen Magazine in 2004. The first volume was released on May 17, 2004 and as of November 17, 2016, forty-six volumes have been released in Japan by Kodansha.
Plot
Kurumatani Sora, made a promise to his mother "I will dominate my first high school tournament". But as he joins the basketball club after entering Kuzuryū High School, he finds out that it's become a stomping ground for delinquents. A place where everything but basketball is done, but with Sora's genuine zeal for basketball, things begin to stir.
Reception
Volume 23 was the 35th best-selling manga volume in the period of 17 November 2008 to 17 May 2009, with 347,574 copies. Volume 22 was placed 46th in the same period with 316,221 copies.[1] Volume 26 was the 42nd best-selling manga volume in the period of 23 November 2009 to 23 May 2010 with 343,662 copies. Volume 27 was placed 49th in the same period with 300,331 copies.[2] Volume 30 was the 47th best-selling manga volume in the period of 22 November 2010 to 22 May 2011 with 340,851 copies.[3] It was the 23rd best-selling manga series in Japan in 2011, with 1,739,105 copies.[4]
