Sheekh Ahmed Gabyow was a famous Somali poet from the Abgaal Hawiye clan who lived in the coastal area north of Mogadishu in the first decades of the Italian occupation. He was well known for the masafo, a genre of Somali poetry that is usually composed by religious men.[1]
