Alan Astbury FRS (1934–2014)[1] was a Canadian physicist, professor emeritus at University of Victoria,[2][3] and was director of the Tri-Universities Meson Facility (TRIUMF) laboratory.[4][5][6]

Research and career

He led a group at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory who confirmed the existence of the W particle.[7] He was president of the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics.[when?][8][9][10]
