Alexandra Amuche Sandra Asogwa // (born 15 February 1996) also known as Alex Unusual is a Nigerian reality TV star, model, compere, brand influencer, filmmaker, creative writer, content creator, lifestyle vlogger, and actress.

She rose to fame after participating in the 2018 edition of Big Brother Naija season 3 reality TV show, where she emerged as the third runner-up and was voted as the most fun housemate.[2] She is also known for her roles in Nollywood's Merry Men 2, Fate of Alakada and Nucleus.[3][4]

Early life and education

Alex Asogwa was born in Enugu State. She is from Nsukka in Enugu State, South-East Nigeria and the eldest of the 3 siblings in the family.[5][6] She is an alumna of the New York Film Academy.[7]

She began her early education in Enugu but received her first school leaving certificate from Aunty Lizzy International School, Lagos in 2006. This was after her family moved to Lagos in 2001, then finally completed her senior secondary education in Federal Government College, Enugu, where she earned her secondary school certification. In school, she competed in track and field events, especially relays, and received numerous sporting prizes for her school.[8] Alex studied at the New York Film Academy to enhance her directing and content creation talents.[7]

Career

Alex Asogwa made her big screen debut in 1996 as a 6-month-old child model in a Nestle baby food campaign. In 2016, she competed in the Miss Eastern Nigeria beauty pageant in 2016 and was crowned the winner.[9] She was hosted the red carpet movie premiere of Avengers: Endgame in Nigeria for Marvel Studios. She also co-anchored the event for Lanre Olusola's book launch with fellow actor Deyemi Okanlawon.[10]

In 2019, Asogwa hosted the red carpet premieres of Merry Men 2 and the Buckwyld and Breathless shows. She made her acting debut in Merry Men 2, 2019 Nigerian crime action comedy film and a sequel to Merry Men: The Real Yoruba Demons that starred Ayo Makun, Jim Iyke, Ufuoma McDermott, Rosaline Meurer and Linda Osifo.[11] She also featured in Power Of 1 and Fate of Alakada.[12]

She went on to produce and direct the short film - Nucleus which encourages everyone to pay attention to those around them, show love to the people they care about, and to give people their roses when they can still smell them. She starred in this film alongside Ngozi Nwosu.[4][13] She also featured in Power Of 1 and Fate of Alakada.[12]

Big Brother Nigeria

In 2017, Asogwa was one of the five finalists of the Big Brother Naija season 3, alongside Miracle, Cee C, Tobi and Nina.[14][15] She placed as the third runner up.[16]
