Alexander James Wähling (born 30 March 1995) is a German former footballer who played as a midfielder.

Early life

Wähling played youth football with FV Fortuna Kirchfeld, before later joining FC Neureut, followed by Karlsruher SC from 2009 to 2014.[1][2]

Playing career

In 2014, he joined Mainz 05 II in the 3. Liga, until having to retire due to injury in 2016.[3][2]

In September 2020, he returned to playing with FV Fortuna Kirchfeld in the sixth tier Verbandsliga Nordbaden.[1] He made his debut on 27 September 2020 against FC Germania Friedrichstal.[4]

International career

In October 2012, he attended a training camp with the Germany U18 team.[5]

Coaching career

In July 2017, he joined Karlsruher SC as a youth coach, beginning with the U13s.[2] In May 2022, he began coaching the U16 team.[6] In April 2024, he extended his contract to remain coach of the U16s.[7]

Personal life

His younger brother Nicolas is also a footballer; their father is German and their mother is English.[8]
