Alfredo Hoyos (born March 26, 1972) is a Colombian plastic surgeon who created high-definition liposuction and other advanced body contouring techniques.[1][2][3][4]

Hoyos specializes in aesthetic plastic surgery, maxillofacial surgery, and hand surgery.[5] He is also a medical illustrator, painter and sculptor.[1][6] Hoyos is a speaker for Global Stem Cells Group.[7][8] He has also been featured in the Aesthetics & Beauty Magazine.[9]

Early life and education

Alfredo Hoyos was born on 26 March 1972, in Bogotá, Colombia. He earned his medical degree from the Universidad del Rosario in Bogotá, where he also completed his undergraduate studies.[10][5][3][7] He later pursued visiting fellowships in aesthetic surgery at New York University, and additional training in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital and the Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital.[5]

Career

Hoyos is credited with inventing High Definition Liposculpture (HDL), also known as H4D LIPO, Lipo HD, and Dynamic Definition Lipoplasty (4D). He has also developed additional body contouring techniques.[1][3][6][11][12][13][14][15] He has also refined techniques in fat transfer (buttock and pectoral lipograft) and breast augmentation.[4] He continues to refine these techniques and is researching new applications of HD in other anatomical regions within cosmetic surgery.[3][7] He has performed plastic surgeries for many celebrities including Belinda Peregrín.[13][16]

Hoyos has authored several books and scientific publications discussing techniques and technologies related to body contouring.[1][4][15] He travels to speak to cosmetic surgeons and also serves as a consultant for media and non-scientific magazines.[15]

Hoyos is a lecturer and trainer for Vaser, Bodytite, Microaire and other technologies.[3] He has trained hundreds of plastic surgery physicians in liposculpture procedures.[15]
