Ali Banisadr is an Iranian-born artist living in New York City. He grew up in Tehran, in Iran. When he was twelve, his family moved to San Diego, in the United States.[1] He moved to New York in 2000, where he studied for a BFA at the School of Visual Arts, and for an MFA at the New York Academy of Art.[1] He works primarily in oil painting, but also does some mixed media work.[citation needed]

Banisadr's work is in the public collections of The British Museum in London, The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, Los Angeles's Museum of Contemporary Art, The Olbricht Collection in Germany, Francois Pinault Foundation in Italy, London's The Saatchi Gallery, Vienna's Sammlung Essl, and The Wurth Collection in Germany.[2]
