Alvar (Armenian: Ալվար; formerly, Duzkend, Azerbaijani: Düzkənd) is a village and rural community (municipality) in the Shirak Province of Armenia.

The community of Alvar consists of the village of Alvar and the abandoned village of Aravet. The National Statistical Service of the Republic of Armenia (ARMSTAT) reported the community's population was 168 in 2010,[1] up from 147 at the 2001 census.[2]

Population

According to "Caucasian Calendar" of 1912, 591 people, mainly Azerbaijanis shown in the calendar as «Karapapaks», lived in village Duzkend of Kars Okrug of Kars Oblast.[3]
