Andy Schatz is a video game designer known for hosting the Independent Games Festival awards ceremonies, and his contributions to independent video game development.[1]

Early life

Schatz graduated from Amherst College with a degree in Computer Science and Fine Arts.[1]

Career

Before starting Pocketwatch Games in 2004, Schatz worked for various companies as a Designer, Artificial Intelligence Engineer, Lead Programmer, and a Development Director. He helped to write the first Xbox Live code to ship to the public for the game Whacked! and aided in the implementation of EA’s multiplatform internet layer for the game GoldenEye: Rogue Agent.[1] He eventually founded Pocketwatch Games and worked as the lone programmer, designer, and producer for the companies' first two games, Wildlife Tycoon: Venture Africa, which has sold over 90,000 copies worldwide, and Venture Arctic.[1]
