Archechiniscus (Pronunciation: Arh-eh-in-isk-oos) is a genus of tardigrades in the family Archechiniscidae being the only one. The etymology is Greek which means the "Ruler" or "Chief" of the Echinuscus species which is distinct from Echiniscus and placed in a different order.

History

It only had one known species which was described by Erich Schultz in 1953 until 1987 when Archechiniscus minutus was described in 1987. Its recent one was discovered in 2012.
