Liukeng village, Le'an County in Jiangxi

Architecture of Jiangxi refers to the traditional houses in Jiangxi, China. Jiangxi architecture is renowned for its exterior looking, interior decoration, in relation to its surroundings under influence of Fengshui theories.

The traditional houses still preserved nowadays in Jiangxi were mostly built in Ming and Qing dynasties; ancestral shrines, Confucian academies, memorial arches are the most important monuments. These buildings are characterized by gables of dark bricks, with white lines under eaves, covered by black tiles; and they are often elaborately decorated by wood, stone and brick carvings, ink painting, clay sculpture, and sometimes Nuoxi elements.
