Argleton
Appearance
53°32′40″N 2°54′46″W / 53.544404°N 2.912807°W Argleton is a non-existent location in Lancashire, notorious for appearing on Google Maps but not in real life. Its apparent location is south of Ormskirk, close to the A59.[1]
As a result of its appearance in the Google Maps database, the town is referred to by a number of websites offering local services.
The Sunday Telegraph has suggested that Argleton might be a trap street writ large.[1] It has also been suggested that it might be a simple mistake by Google Maps resulting from mispelling the name of the nearby village of Aughton[2].
