Begun is a city and a municipality in Chittaurgarh district in the state of Rajasthan, India. It is also one of the historical town of Chittorgarh district. One of Mewar's important rivers, Brahmani, fllows through Begun. Begun also has a fort which is surrounded by a small river.Shahid Rupaji Karpaji freedom fighter lead "Begun Bijoliya Kisan Andolan" in leadership of Shahid Vijay Singh Pathik.
Geography
Begun is located at 24°59′N 75°00′E / 24.98°N 75.0°E.[1] It has an average elevation of 412 metres (1351 feet).Begun have very good soil for agriculture.In begun tehsil a small village name kanthariya,in kanthariya the most beautiful bajrangbali temple name "shree chetanya balaji mandir,kanthariya" this temple's priest name shree ramnaresh das.This temple is on begun to ratangarh road in between rampuriya and galiyabavdi village.This temple is 16km far from begun and 18 km far from ratangarh. In Begun Tehsil there are two most famous places i.e Jogania Mata and Menal. Jogania Mata Temple is situated at the top of mountains. It is 20 KM far from Begun.Jogania Mata temple is a famous Temple in Chittorgarh district. This place is beautiful and gives havenly pleasure. In rainney season it seems like heaven on earth. Menal is known for its beautiful natural fall. Menal is neare to Jogania Mata. It is 25 KM far from Begun. Every one should visit these places one who come to visit Rajasthan.
Demographics
As of 2001[update] India census,[2] Begun had a population of 19,353. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Begun has an average literacy rate of 64%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with 61% of the males and 39% of females literate. 16% of the population is under 6 years of age.
