Benny Dayal

Benny Dayal (Malayalam: ബെന്നി ദയാല്‍) (born on May 13, 1984) is an Indian singer. He is a member of the band S5 launched by the channel SS Music.[1] He has worked as a playback singer with A. R. Rahman in several movies including Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa, Delhi-6 and Ghajini.

Biography

Benny Dayal hails from Kollam district, Kerala.[2]. He did his schooling in Abu Dhabi and went on to complete his B.Com from Madras Christian College. After his graduation from MCC, he did a diploma in journalism from the same college.

He was working with RR Donnelley. He quit his job in BPO and decided to dedicate his career on music.[3].Most of the films he sung are for AR Rahman in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil,Malayalam etc..

Live Performances

He performed at NIT calicut on March 26, 2009 as part of the cultural festival Ragam. He also performed with Stephen Devassy and others at SSN College of Engineering on March 5, 2010 and at Mar Baselios College of Engineering and Technology on March 21, 2010 as part of Instincts, the annual cultural event at the colleges.[4] He frenzied the audience at the jam packed Music Academy on March 27, 2010 at Sangarsh 10 - A concert for a cause, organised by Rotaract Club of College of Engineering Guindy.[5] He performed in 8th MILE, the technocultural fest of RV College of Engineering on 18 April,2010 at Bangalore.[6]

Filmography

In the Malayalam movie "By the people" Benny dayal showed his charm as an actor along with his 'S5' band partners. It was a suspense thriller, and all the songs were sung by 'S5' members for the composer Pravin Mani who was an assistant to A.R Rahman. This is how Rahman got to know about Benny Dayal and gave him a chance to sing his compositions.
