Berekuso is a town in the Eastern Region, approximately an hour from Accra. The town is known for being the location of Ashesi University, the first liberal arts college in sub-Saharan Africa.[1]

Berekuso is the westernmost town traditionally inhabited by the Akuapem people.[2]
