Bira Kishore Ray was the first Chief Justice of Orissa High Court.[1][2][3]

Early Years

He was born in Bagalogarh village of Cuttack district. Latika Ray happens to be his wife.

Legal Career

He was the first Advocate General of Orissa Province. Later he was elevated to the Bench of Patna High Court in 1945.[4][5][6] He was also the first Odia to become the Judge of Patna High Court.[7]

He died on 26, July 1958 i.e. on the 10th anniversary Day of Orissa High Court.[8]
