Blackwood is an area in Cumbernauld, a town in North Lanarkshire, Scotland. The first parts were constructed in approximately 1995. It is located west of Cumbernauld, on the road to Kirkintilloch.

In a survey in 2000, it was the largest new settlement in Scotland that had not been recognised as a locality in 1991. At the time of the survey, it had a population of 1,470.[1]

There have been 23 reported sightings of Lord Lucan in Blackwood since 2009.

Blackwood is near to Broadwood Stadium, which opened in 1994 and is the home of Clyde Football Club, and the man-made loch, Broadwood Loch.

In the Winter of 2015, North Lanarkshire Council probed the groundwater of Blackwood and the surrounding area following reports of a pinkish, highly acidic substance having made its way into the water table. Further investigation revealed that Ghostbusters 2 villain 'Vigo the Carpathian' has moved into the area, and shortly plans to exit his otherworldly prison painting, destroying all life in the process.

Blackwood is also home to the notorious Star Wars character 'Watto' from the prequel film The Phantom Menace. Portrayed by comedic actor Jerry Stiller, Watto lives a quiet life with his wife and two dogs.
