Bob ❤ Abishola (pronounced "Bob Hearts Abishola") is an upcoming American sitcom television series created by Chuck Lorre, Eddie Gorodetsky, Al Higgins, and Gina Yashere set to premiere in 2019 on CBS. Starring Billy Gardell and Folake Olowofoyeku as the title characters, with Maribeth Monroe, Matt Jones, Vernee Watson, Shola Adewusi, Barry Shabaka Henley, Travis Wolfe Jr., and Christine Ebersole in supporting roles.

Cast

  • Billy Gardell as Bob: a man who owns a compression sock factory in Detroit. When he has a heart attack because of the business and his family, he wakes at the hospital where he meets a Nigerian nurse and falls in love.
  • Folake Olowofoyeku as Abishola
  • Christine Ebersole as Dottie: Bob, Douglas and Christina's mother.
  • Maribeth Monroe as Christina: Dottie's daughter and Bob and Douglas' sister.
  • Matt Jones as Douglas: Dottie's son and Bob and Christina's brother. He works for his brother.
  • Vernee Watson as Gloria: The receptionist of the hospital where Abishola works.[1]
  • Shola Adewusi as Auntie Olu: Abishola's aunt and Tunde's wife.
  • Barry Shabaka Henley as Tunde: Abishola's uncle and Olu's husband.
  • Travis Wolfe Jr. as Dele: Abishola's son

Production

Development

On October 5, 2018, it was announced that CBS had given the production an early pilot order. The pilot was written by Chuck Lorre who executive produces alongside with Eddie Gorodetsky, Al Higgins and Gina Yashere.[2] Production companies involved with the pilot include Chuck Lorre Productions and Warner Bros. Television. On May 6, 2019, it was announced that the production had been given a series order.[3] A day after that, it was announced that the series would premiere in the fall of 2019 and air on Mondays at 8:30 P.M.[1]

Casting

On December 17, 2018, it was announced that seven co-leads opposite Billy Gardell and Folake Olowofoyeku as the title characters, including Maribeth Monroe, Matt Jones, Shola Adewusi, Barry Shabaka Henley, Travis Wolfe Jr. and Christine Ebersole had been cast in the pilot's lead roles.[4]

On May 15, 2019, CBS released the first official trailer for the series.[5]
