Bolt On Technology is an American business-to-business Limited Liability Company headquartered in Downingtown, Pennsylvania that designs, develops and sells add-on automotive software solutions for the automotive aftermarket industry, primarily in North America.[1][2][3]
History
Greater Philadelphia area-based Bolt On Technology is a software development company focused on service to the nation's 275,000 independent automotive repair shops. [4] Since its founding in 2008,[5] Bolt On Technology has developed and deployed more than a dozen add-on software modules that are compatible with automotive repair shop management systems, including Mitchell 1, R.O. Writer, ALLDATA and Genuine Parts Company, parent company of National Automotive Parts Association (NAPA).[6] The company's software helps to automate day-to-day operations in the automotive repair industry [7][8]
Mitchell 1, an affiliate of Snap-on tools, licensed three of Bolt On Technology’s software products in 2011, branded them as their own, and began selling them around the world. The following year, Mitchell 1 sold close to 1,000 units of the bundled software package. Today, auto repair shops throughout the U.S., Canada, and Guam use the modules.[9]
In the fall of 2013, Bolt On Technology released Mobile Manager Pro, which features digital transactions and text message reports to customers.[3]
Mobile Manager Pro went through several[weasel words] rounds of updates and re-launched in summer 2014.[10][full citation needed]
About that same time, Bolt On Technology released Welcome Station Kiosk, a customer check-in kiosk developed for the automotive repair industry.[11] Similar to kiosks used in restaurants, grocery stores, and airports, the check-in tool lets repair shop customers select vehicle services, as well as update their contact and vehicle information.[12]
In 2017, Bolt On Technology released Review Manager, a tool that lets shops regulate and respond to customer reviews.
Bolt On Technology’s software products are used by a growing number of automotive repair shop owners and operators among the service centers throughout the U.S..[13]
Products
Besides Mobile Manager Pro, Bolt On Technology develops adaptable shop management technology for various facets of the automotive aftermarket.[7]
The Report Pro application equips auto repair shops with the ability to send customized repair invoices to customers’ email, while Lube Sticker Pro uses customers’ driving history to predict when drivers are due for routine services.
Some of Bolt On Technology's other applications include Message Manager, a text message reminder tool; Quick Charge Pro, a credit card processing tool; and MV-431, a vehicle inspection tool for Pennsylvania repair shops.[12][14][15]
