Bowie State is a passenger rail station on the MARC Penn Line between Washington, D.C., Baltimore, MD and Perryville, MD. This station is also on the southern section of the Northeast Corridor; however Amtrak does not stop at this station.[1] The station adjoins Bowie State University, hence the name.
Bowie State Station was built in 1989 as a replacement for the original Bowie Station built by the Baltimore and Potomac Railroad Company, and acquired by the Pennsylvania Railroad, located 1.1 miles south of modern Bowie State. Not many years before, a station named Jericho Park was located on the same site as Bowie State, but it was discontinued by the early 1980s when the (Old) Jericho Park Road grade crossing was eliminated by the Laurel-Bowie Road overpass, before the MARC name was coined. In 1992, the former Bowie station was purchased by the City of Bowie, and transformed into the Huntington Railroad Museum.[2]
