The genus Brachystelma R. Br. (Apocynaceae: Asclepiadoideae - Ceropegieae) is represented by over a hundred species in the world,[1] chiefly distributed in South Africa, South-East Asia and Australasia.[2] In India, 17 species are known to occur,[3] of which nine are endemic.
