The genus Brachystelma R. Br. (Apocynaceae: Asclepiadoideae - Ceropegieae) is represented by over a hundred species in the world,^[1] chiefly distributed in South Africa, South-East Asia and Australasia.^[2] In India, 17 species are known to occur,^[3] of which nine are endemic.
