Broken Side of Time, which made its film festival debut in June, 2013, is a drama by Gorman Bechard, part two of his Alone Trilogy that began with his 2005 feature, "You Are Alone."[1]
Plot
Over a million women have modeling portfolios online. BROKEN SIDE OF TIME is the story of Dolce, one of the models who've made a career of it. But now 30, and tired of competing with 18-year-olds, Dolce realizes what makes her feel most alive is also killing her. Before starting a new career behind the camera, she embarks on a long road trip home, shooting with her favorite photographers one last time, and shedding her lifestyle-acquired vices along the way. It's a journey to reclaim the lost pieces of herself.
Combining real photoshoots shot cinéma vérité-style with a narrative based on some very real-life adventures in front of the lens, BROKEN SIDE OF TIME is a dark, sexual glimpse into a world never before captured in a film. A world where any woman can play the role of a model, and any man can be a photographer, and where even the best of them must consider whether the fame and money is worth the cost.
The film was released on DVD on May 20, 2014 by MVD Entertainment.[2] It is also streaming on Hulu [3] and Amazon.com.
Critical Response
In Blurt Magazine, Danny R. Phillips wrote: "Broken Side of Time is a look at a journey and a destination, a glimpse at what happens when you give all yourself to something and are used, tossed aside in return. Dolce is a train wreck personified and I could not stop watching." [4]
In DVD Verdict, Judge Michael Nazarewycz wrote: "Broken Side of Time is a great example of independent filmmaking at its finest." [5]

Critical Response
The DVD wrap up wrote: “Broken Side of Time is more a character study than a story that ends with a resolution. It could also be described as a tonal piece, in which Bechard uses sound, light and color to make us understand what Jane is experiencing." Adding " The DVD features unedited photo shoots, extended scenes, a blooper reel and a featurette on how they achieved the look and feel on a budget of merely $15,000, raised on Kickstarter."[10]
Blurt Magazine had this to say: "Watching Dolce’s slip into the abyss is somewhat like watching a car stranded on the tracks as a train barrels towards it. You really want to help, to scream “Get out of the way!” but deep inside we want to see what happens next. Broken Side of Time is a look at a journey and a destination, a glimpse at what happens when you give all yourself to something and are used, tossed aside in return. Dolce is a train wreck personified and I could not stop watching."
