Premise

Production

On February 5, 2019, it was announced that Billy Eichner would write, executive produce and star in a romantic comedy feature film, directed and co-written by Nick Stoller.[2] Principal photography was set to begin on June 7, 2021 in Buffalo, New York and Provincetown, Massachusetts.[6] Filming subsequently took place in Manhattan and in downtown Cranford, New Jersey.[7]

Most of the cast was revealed on September 23, 2021,[8] and September 30, 2021.[9] Bowen Yang and Harvey Fierstein were revealed to have joined the cast on November 4, 2021, and [10] Benito Skinner joined the cast the next day.[11]

The film is the first gay romantic comedy from a major studio featuring an entirely LGBTQA principal cast,[5][12] with the exception of Debra Messing and Kristin Chenoweth, whom Stoller calls "allies" of the community.[5]

Marketing

The first trailer was released on May 18, 2022.[13]
