The Canadian Polar Commission is a Canadian government agency of Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada responsible for monitoring, promoting, and disseminating knowledge of the polar regions; contributing to public awareness of the importance of polar science to Canada; enhancing Canada's international profile as a circumpolar nation; and recommending polar science policy direction to government.

The Commission was created by the Canadian Polar Commission Act which came into force September 9, 1991. The Commission reports to the Parliament of Canada through the Minister of Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development.
