Looking up Canton Ave.

Canton Avenue, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania's Beechview neighborhood, is the steepest officially recorded public street in the United States.[1][2] [3]

According to the Guinness Book of World Records, Baldwin Street in New Zealand is the world's steepest residential street. Baldwin Street is 1,150 ft (350 meters) long and is said to include a grade of 35%. Canton Avenue is 630 ft (192 meters) long (the hill is about 65 meters long) and is claimed to include a 37% grade 6.5 meters long. The steepest public road is into Waipio Valley on the Big Island of Hawaii. [4][5][6][7]

In March 2016, the street was the subject of a commercial,[8] featuring freeskier Bene Mayr, snowboarder Heikki Sorsa, downhill mountain biker Aaron Gwin, and racing driver Mattias Ekström for the Audi Quattro A4 automobile.[9][10]
