The Carlos Arvelo Municipality is one of the 14 municipalities (municipios) that makes up the Venezuelan state of Carabobo and, according to the 2011 census by the National Institute of Statistics of Venezuela, the municipality has a population of 150,277. [1] The town of Güigüe is the shire town of the Carlos Arvelo Municipality.[2]

Demographics

The Carlos Arvelo Municipality, according to a 2007 population estimate by the National Institute of Statistics of Venezuela, has a population of 146,598 (up from 127,236 in 2000). This amounts to 6.6% of the state's population.[3] The municipality's population density is 175.57 inhabitants per square kilometre (454.7/sq mi).[4]

The mayor of the Carlos Arvelo Municipality is Marisol de Castellanos, re-elected on November 23, 2008 with 49% of the vote.[5] The municipality is divided into three parishes; Güigüe, Belén, and Tacarigua.[2]
