Carlos Be
Carlos Be (born in Vilanova i la Geltrú, Barcelona, Spain, 4 November 1974) is an author and theatre director. Highlights among his works include La caja Pilcik (Serantes Theatre Prize 2008), Llueven vacas (2008), Achicorias (2008), Galimatías (Iberescena Dramatic Creation 2008), Origami (Born Theatre Prize 2006), La extraordinaria muerte de Ulrike M. (runner-up for the Casa de América – Contemporary Stage Festival of Innovative Drama Prize 2005) and Noel Road 25: a genius like us (Caja España Prize 2001).
He also cultivates other genres such as novel, short story, script and poetry. Since February 2009 he has contributed with his own opinion section in Artez, a monthly magazine specialising in theatre.
His works have been published in Catalan, Spanish and Galician, and premiered in Czech Republic, Spain and Panama.
Biography
Carlos Be became a playwright at age 22, when in 1997 he decided to quit a medical degree program to devote himself to writing on a full-time basis.
