Carlsbad Village is one of two passenger rail stations serving the city of Carlsbad, California on North County Transit District's COASTER commuter rail route. It is the last station on the line before reaching the northern terminus at Oceanside. North County Transit District's Breeze bus routes serve Oceanside to UTC on Route 101, and Carlsbad Village to the College Blvd Sprinter Station on Route 325. In addition to the COASTER service, 3 northbound and 3 southbound Pacific Surfliner trains also serve this station daily.[2]

Along with Encinitas station, this is one of two single-track stations on the Coaster line, causing a bottleneck for rail traffic.[citation needed] The station is also located less that 200 feet away from the original 1907 Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway Carlsbad station to its south. The former station now serves as the city's visitor center and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
