Category:Commercial type foundries

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A commercial type foundry is a larger company that sells and distributes virtual or digital typefaces, and often holds the trademarks for common typeface names and licenses of past designs. In addition to typefaces, commercial foundries may also market their own font-related software. Commercial foundries are commonly divisions of corporations or are held by parent companies – for instance, Adobe carries its own division for typefaces and font-related products.

This category is differentiated from smaller, independent foundries, held in the Category:Independent type foundries. It is also different from non-digital foundries, such as manufacturers of actual movable or foundry type, which are held in the Category:Letterpress font foundries and those that work with phototypsetting, or cold type, which are held in Category:Cold type foundries
